Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, All Saints' Day, Friday the 13th, and Reincarnation. What's the Point?
Updated: a day ago
November is one of my favorite months of the year. So many significant things have happened to me in the month of November! It kicks off with my absolute favorite day, Dia de los Muertos, which I've been a of fan ever since I spent some real time in Mexico. I now have a deeper understanding of why. My team and I made this video on Halloween and Dia de los Muertos and for some reason it didn't feel right to release it then. With today being Friday the 13th, we realized today's the day. Our intention is to flip or reverse the uneasiness associated with Friday the 13th. For those who don't know the history behind this day, it all began with death and destruction. On Friday, October 13th in the year 1307, the Knights Templar were arrested and later massacred at the hands of King Phillip IV of France. The date has since held a foreboding or unlucky energy. We feel that releasing this video today is symbolic. As it aims to break down the walls created by labels and the illusion of separation.
The point of Dia de los Muertos is to remember the dead, while Friday the 13th is a solemn reminder of our fear of death and persecution. Yet, do we ever really die? NO! Once you know that you are ONE with all things, there is no "Real Death" as they call it in HBO's True Blood. There is nothing to fear. Yet how you do know that you are ONE with all things?
How can I be so sure? Because I remember... I remember with deep emotion, several of my past lives. I've been a Temple Priestess, a Blind beggar turned Farmer, an Indian warrior, a fisherman, an author, a healer, a Martyr and an artist, several times each. I've studied sex magic, alchemy, yoga and witchcraft and much much more. I can also "remember" future lives where I am a geneticist, a programmer and an Earth Angel.
While playing these parts, I got to be EVERY color of skin, both sexes, rich, poor, famous, short, tall, you name it... I've been it. I also remember dying. I've drowned, contracted illness and suffered mortal combat wounds. I've been burned at the stake, stoned, murdered and peacefully died in my sleep. Yet mostly, I remember killing myself. Seems that when you play the game so many times you inherently know there's a reset button. I've hung myself a bunch, and even fell on a sword once when I was a Samurai. My new favorite memory is of me biting my tongue off while wearing a straight jacket. Still can't believe I did that! I must have really wanted to go.
Ever since I have had the ability to do this I have been trying to figure out why. Why do I know this? Why do I remember? My current theory is because it makes you fearless.
Once you are no longer afraid to die you can play the game of Risk/Reward on a different level. The old game is survive and the new game is Thrive. About a year ago, I contemplated hitting the reset button, but then I remembered Karma is the one thing you can take with you when you die.
Not only would I have failed at this current mission, I would have a more difficult one next time as I have added more karma to clear. It's a cycle I understood at a deep level and was desperate to break. I began to understand that the only way to clear karma is to transcend it. And the way to do that, is the integration of self. Integrate the dark and the light as they are just two sides of the same coin. Once you have uncovered and examined your own darkness you no longer become impressed with the darkness of others. There is freedom in that.
So back to the question of "What's the point?" I answer this in the attached video. It's a little long and certainly more intimate as I had a few speeches I'd been writing, floating around in my head when I recorded it. It may be triggering to you as I talk a bunch about the pitfalls of labels as I introduce my new glass series called "Risk/Reward." I use labeling language such as artist, Italian, nigger and faggot as well as some crude expressions in other languages. So if you are not into keeping it real with the language, then maybe only watch the beginning.
My new assistant and I had fun with some sample Avatar costumes in the first few minutes. You will get to see her in some of the frames as I haven't got a film editor on staff yet. As I was attempting to snip her out the frames where she appeared, my guides showed me how I could use her in the frame as an analogy....Like an assistant, our guides and higher selves are always with us, assisting us, recording our lives and playing it back to us when we forget. I hope you enjoy the show.....
